89 turbo sunbird
Sunday, March 13, 2005 12:00 PM
I was just wondering how much someone would be willing to pay for an 89 sunbird turbo. I have one for sale currently. I just want a ball park figure here. I have no pics so i just want ur guys's opinions. It has two small areas on the bottom of either door that rusting abit, about 4 inches long each. No biggy. It has 166,000 KMS. or about 100,000 miles. It is a 5 spd with cruise control, power locks, but no power windows. The engine runs good, and its got michelin rubber all around with 70% tread. Paint is alright the only thing wrong with it is that the black top has some parts where it chipped off the red, but the red underneath is fine. BTW i now own two sunbird turbos, ha, an 88 (my pride and joy srt-4 killer) and the 89. Geez i guess im the envy of all the second genners, imagine owning TWO turbo birds. wait i can. not rubbing it in of course.

Book value?
$600 or so in mint condition.

You could probably get $1200 or so for the car if you detailed it and it was in top running condition. J-body people are the ones who would pay top dollar for it. To anyone else its just a Sunbird. Throw an ad in the classified section.

Just a guess. Good luck with your sale.

getrag 5spd, 175K, um, originally needed head gasket. after removing head realized that the Thermostat housing was cracked, oil filler was busted, raditor was gone, the vacuum line was busted (run's thru the T/b to the fuel evapartor??) and probably some other stuff.

but its a great car to use for a donor in a swap. all electronics are there, including gauges, ecu fuel pump, wiring harness ect.

Im about 10 minutes out side of Cincinnati Ohio, in Erlanger/Florence Kentucky.

hmmm I smell a road trip I need the tranny I don't need anything other than what's needed for a 5spd/auto swap, tranny, clutch, and computer. You wouldn't happen to be making any trips east in the future would ya? fudd_22602@yahoo.com

this may be a first come first serve thing here guys. Fudd has emailed me, but hasn't given me a for sure thing.

This donor car is a Turbo. BUT has alot wrong with it. From my understandings the turbo spooled fine (spiked 10psi) but the headgasket said no more after 175K miles. so the motor needs rebuilt. but like i said, it's a good donor car. for a project if you got the time, money, and area to build it.

I repeat. this because i want the buyer to be know of this so there's no problems. THERE IS NO TITLE ON CAR. PARTS ONLY. but all the wiring appears to be in great shape, the tranny went into gear fine (5spd), and with some research you can do a DOHC swap on this motor using a Daewoo head.

The body's rusted. but for the most part straight. all the metal is straigh minus the driver side fender. the hood, doors, bumper, trunk lid (off of my 90 VL) are still straight, BUT may have rust in areas.

Also has a flat tire, so it may take some pushing to get it up the trailer.

I'd really like to sell this to someone somewhat local. I'd hate to see someone drive out 5hrs for a donor car that's not all that great. anywhome. Email me at Stenger41018@yahoo.com if interested.
