what should the temp gauge read on a 94 2.2L

during normal operation conditions while the engine is fully warmed up, what should the temp gauge show? should it be right in the middle (pointing straight up at 12 oclock)? mine points more at 11 oclock. if i do the math according the guage, it sitting at about 140* which in my mind is not warm enough. its never bothered me until now when the weather is cold and the heater doesnt want to work real well. if this temp is normal i dont want to waste the time and money or replacing the thermostat. thanks.

I have a 91 2.2 and once it warms up to 160ish 12 oclock, it blows out hot air. I would look at either your thermostat or your heater core. When its really cold out, Im almost home 15 min drive before I can get hot air.
