Thats definitely good to hear. As soon as I get the car back to where I can drive it at least I am going to work a little more on the rear as far as pre-loading goes because the front is I'd say 98% dialed in.

my rears ive got no preload on , and that is where i got the best ride so far
i havent made time to play with the fronts more , i need to take a little more preload out
also ive been more into putting some use on them , and it seams the need to break in , cause the ride has gotten better
after i get a few hundred more miles on them ill go back through and adjust more , set the final ride height , and take it back to get the alignment finished
right now the car is a bit to low for me , but it does like sweet
I am finally lowered.
i didnt preload much. the rears are more than the fronts but i only did it enough to squeeze teh spring a little. My only issue is that one of the struts damp adjustment only has 5 clicks. Jim and i are gonna chat
went to go put my fronts on tonight and i have the pre 99 strut mounts and everything is installed like the instructions, and the strut rod sticks up so high it hits my hood and bows its (its fbglass/cf) but then also when i put wieght on the car i hear clunking cause the top caps of the mount is hitting the strut towers so i took them off wondering what to do.. looking like i need some pillow mounts... info please and pics if you have them thanks
R.I.P. Brian Klocke, you will never be forgotten
hmm.. im looking to get rid of my koni/gc steup soon and def. showing interest in these.. the silver car picurted was real low, but mostly in the rear.. i jus want to keep my current ride height and have it ride a lot better than my gc's do.. gc's are set all the way down also.. anyone swtich from the koni/gc combo to these that was pretty low? (like 3in low) tryin to figure out if its really worth the money

..smacked the whine right outa the bltch..
they will go that low
mine is droped somewhere around the sportline drop , and ive got to worry about my lip , and i scrape the under side
id hate to see the damege from sitting another 1 to 11/2" lower , lol
but you can lower the car with out effecting the ride , which does happen with your current set up
awesome... yea you'll get used to the lip scraping lol.. i know i did

i kinda cant stand it now
even my friends redline i cringe when he scrapes , LOL
i will say mine 3 wheels alot more now too
Joe, are you looking to get these soon?
I'm still gonna be pulling mine off and going back to stock.. Car is gonna be up for sale in the spring. Im from Canada, is that a problem for you?

joe id rather not replace alot of unnecesary parts
and paint doesnt look good scraped on a lowered car , only lifted 4wd's it looks good on

I though I had
'd you. If not, yes interested. Let me know what you're doing.
what does everybody have as far as suspensions goes with the coilovers, i just have front and rear strutbars. does anybody have swaybars or a subframe brace.

i have strut bars front and rear , and sway bars
Bringing this post back from the dead...
I just ordered my new rims/tires... should have 'em in a week or so...
I finally got moved into my house, so I have the garage to work in (cement floors, yeah... was getting tired of working on gravel :-) )...
I wanna see about getting the coilovers put back on and aligned w/ the new rims...
Anyone discover the correct installation with the 2k+ mounts?
When I slot the bottom holes for camber, how far, and in what direction should I slot the holes?
Now that you have had some drive time on these, are they worth me putting on and hassling with?
i have almost 3000 miles on my coilovers now. no problems whatsoever and they ride great. i just recently switched from my 14" stock wheels to my 18" rims. the ride is still great. i need to play with the dampening a bit to compensate for the lack of side wall with my big wheels. i can honestly say that they were worth the wait
i didn't have any camber problems with mine so unfortunately i can't help with which direction to slot the holes.
on the 2k you just remove the nut and put the mount on
BUT , some 00-05 mounts have seperate spacer and nut , and some have the spacer and nut as 1 , if you have the nut and spacer as 1 you will need to make up that extra thickness
^^^what do you mean make up for extra thickness.
Art and i put the mount on the strut, then the washer then the nut.
mine are pretty good. settleing a little but not that bad. i had huge camber issues, fixed them with camber bolts.
Michzel08 - I would assume you mean camber bolts in place of slotting the holes?

on the 1's that have the spacer that is seperate from the nut , the spacer stays inside the mount
the height on the nut with the spacer built into it is (im guessing here dont have the nut handy) 3/4"
if you take out the nut and it has the spacer built in then you need to make up that thickness , or you will not be able to tighten the nut and strut enough
All-right guys... spent the evening yesterday, and got the front sets on.
I visually adjusted the toe, but did nothing with Camber... the car drives great... a little bouncier than I would like, but I also lowered to the point of about 2 finger widths of wheel gap.
In playing around with the settings on these things... I confused myself, and want to make sure I am understanding them....
Adjusting the spring perch up and down adjusts height, and spring rate?
Adjusting the lower mount (spinning the whole strut into the knuckle mount) only adjusts ride height, correct?
If the above is correct, and I raise the spring perch towards the top of the car, I stiffen the ride, and get rid of some of the bounce, right? then I can compensate for the additional height by dropping the whole strut in the lower mount?
Sorry, I just want to make sure I have the right idea here.
Also, if anyone who is lowered around the same point I am has measurements that I might be able to compare against, that would be great.
Thanks,
yes the lower adjusts only the height , and the upper changes the spring rate
if you havent put any miles on them you might want to put 400-500 miles on them before you go trying to find your settings
mine seamed to change over nite , in the way it felt after i got some miles on it , and im glad the place that did my alignment has a 6 month warrenty , because i need to do some more tweaking on the system now
im also changing the tire size , and going with 235 or 245/45/17's , so i know ill have to raise it up some more , im about 1 finger between the tire and fender in the front
Yeah, that is why I wanted to get them on with the current tires... before I put the new ones on... I too am changing sizes... going from stock 15" to 18" (235/40R/18) - overall diameter is close enough, I may get away with how the co's are set now.
So I figured on self-aligning to a point of drivability, long enough to settle them in. - Camber is not adjusted, but toe is, and it drives well enough to be comfortable.
what I find interesting is that before I left work for lunch, one side of the car looked like it was sitting higher than the other, but after lunch, quite the opposite.... and the car already rides differently than it did yesterday.
So I am still a bit confused on one point - the higher the spring perch (Stiffer) the bouncier the ride, or the smoother the ride?
Yeah I'm starting to notice a little difference in ride too with some miles on it.
I still only have about 600 miles on mine though.
