I snapped a fitting off my friend's PS pump while changing his oil in a 2000 2200 sunfire. I ordered a new pump, as the resevoir was useless on the stock one. When I changed the pump, and refilled everything, the steering was OK, in fact, he said it was easier to turn than before.
However, when he locks the wheel VERY HARD to either side, the engine will start to studder, then stall. The pump also has a bit of a mild whirring sound, sounds like a supercharger.
Is there something I'm missing here?
Bleed the system?
It's not a great idea to push the wheel that hard when it's hard locked either.
you arent supposed to hold the wheel at full lock for more than 3 seconds...its forces teh pump to constantly run thus burning it out

I may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
