Alright, im trying to get the left rear strut mount off. Ive done all other 3 already and this was the only one i had a problem with. I compressed the spring and took the nut off like all the others. Unlike the others the strut mount wouldnt seperate from the spring or strut shaft. Had 2 pry bars prying on the damn thing and no luck still no budge.
-Sprayed PB Blaster on it while still compressed and let it sit. pryed again no luck.
-took a plastic tip hammer and smacked the shaft some no budging.
-Put the nut back on about 5 threads and let the spring back up hoping the tension of the spring would pop it up. Nope.
-Brought it home from the shop and soaked it in wd40 for 2-3hrs, went down and soaked up any wd40 and layed the assembly down and smacked the mount forward(with the nut still on a couple threads) with a plastic tip handle, and a ball peen hammer(flat side) and no budge.
Anyone have any ideas to what is wrong? or what to do to get the damn thing off? Right now its been soakin in WD40 for another 3hrs
only thing i can think of is its rusted to the shaft but i wouldnt think rust would be able to hold it so freakin strong.
I had the same problem when I swapped out my suspension for a KYB AGX/EIbach setup...I needed the bump stops from the stock struts and the same strut gave me problems...hammers, zipp tools and all the wd40 on earth wasn't getting that thing loose...I ended up lighting the torch and cutting the strut shaft in two....
haha, alright. well i guess luckily i didnt pay anything for these assemblies, and i guess im just gonna use the one on my car for that corner.
I have done told you what to do! Drop that bish off your roof!

dam , ive never had 1 that was that hard to get off , also i gave up using spring compressors , the springs are weak enough , 1 hand on the mount with my body weight on it
try pb rustbuster , also try heating it up
all else fails try what redecocav said to do , but tie a rope around the spring so it doesnt hurt anyone
any luck yet with it man?

No, i gave up on it. i dropped it out the second story bathroom with no luck, it just bounced and rolled down the alley into the street. I just gave upon it, i dont think i wanna use the strut anyway if the mount is this hard to get off. ill just have to use a current one on my car no biggie, my front mounts are the only seized up ones so i really only need those so im not to worried about rear ones.
Sorry to hear all the hassle with it, I gotta take mine apart again sometime when I get the new struts for my car. might just get 4 new mounts as well.
