So heres the deal.
Going to work about a week ago I see something pretty big on the road and i noticed it was a rock but it was too late and I tried turning left to avoid it in time and I ended up hitting it extremely hard with my ride side tires and not sure what else it hit.
To give you an idea how big the rock was, believe it or not, it was the size of a soft ball.
I check out my wheels (18 inch) and my tires and they were fine.
But about a day later I started to hear some type of squeeky or crackly noise any little bump, ditch that i go over on the road.
It got the point that when i put my car in reverse or drive I hear the squeeky and crackly noise. Even If i brake to hard.
I'm guessing I screwed up my right passenger side shock but I'd like to know if anyone else has any ideas about what i need to fix or if they went through the same problem and have heard this noise before.
I dont know what could be doing this noise.
Thanks for any help I get here guys.
I will reply back.
Could also be a strut mount or a balljoint. Jack it up and see if there is any play in the suspension.

How would i be able to play with the suspension. Lift and lower the wheel while its in the air? I believe it could be that too.
once you get the car jacked up. wiggle the wheel around there should be no play. if there is play there that would more less to me be a ball joint. I'm not 100% sure though how to inspect the strut mount though while it's on the car.

If you hit a rock that size with your tires, chances are your tires are not okay either.. since you said you have 18's. That's a HARD impact for such a small tire, you might be fine for now, but I bet you have seperation problems later on.

Lucky i have spare tires laying around. And, yes, that is true having tire problems later, but so far everything has been A ok. Man, this noise just gets worse and worse! I believe that now i see the right front wheel tucked in alot more. So it should be my struts with the prob, right?
Well you guys were right and thanks alot. It was the shocks or struts or what ever we call it now-a-days that was blown. I will be getting Yellow KONI struts/shocks for the car next week!! WOooohoo! Everyone is telling me that this will be a great investment. As for my turbo project; it will have to be on hold
Wellllll, I've been reading the Faqs on the stickies to learn alot about J-body and how things work. I was reading the suspension sticky and I came across this:
My car makes strange noises when I’m turning, what is it?
If it’s a creaking or popping sound when turning the wheels side to side, either while moving or stopped, it’s probably your front strut mounts or a spring reseating in its perch. The stock strut mounts are not known for their good quality or life expectancy, especially when the car’s geometry is altered by use of lowering springs or coilovers. Replacing them with aftermarket mounts, such as those from Monroe or Gabriel, will probably address the problem.
This was in number 12 of FAQS in the Suspension sticky
Now the problem is that, I dont know if this is the problem i'm coming across because i dont get a creaking noise when i turn the wheel side to side whether moving or not. BUT, I do get a creaking noise from the front right suspension when i hit a bump or any little crack on the streets.
My question is, how would I know whether its my front strut mounts like said in the sticky or whether its my shock that has gone bad.
Here are some facts, I know my shocks are blown and I havent changed them for a couple months (stupid me) but after i hit that rock its been making that creaking noise on any bump on the road.
So would it be my shock thats making that noise or my front strut mount?
Thanks in advance for your help.
