hey guys i got a good deal on a set of tenzo coilovers for my 98 cavalier are they any good or what.i picked them up from someone else who bought them but sold theircar before installing them.so they are still new in box.
so does anyone use these and whats the quality
thanks
if there anything like their springs then they are probably ok. not the best but definitily not the worse. if you do decide to use these please get koni yellow or tokico dspec struts. those coils will kill the stock struts quickly.
There more than likely way too high of a rate for your car and are a universal kit. This is a bad idea. The only coilovers that should be used on our cars are Ground Controls, or Tein Super Streets. The ONLY struts to use with the Ground Controls are Koni Yellows. Good Suspension isn't cheap.

I didn't post because I'm just not familiar with the Tenzo ones.
If they're a "universal" kit, then avoid them like the plague. Suspension components have to be designed specifically for these cars.
If you've got pics, we should be able to tell you right off the bat whether you should consider them or not.
I DO NOT ever recall seeing a coilover kit from Tenzo for the j-bodies. I am going to assume that it's a universal kit or one made for another car. Either the guy you bought them from ripped you off or maybe he didn't even know better... Who knows.
Either way, I highly doubt they're any good.

Gravana, RK Sport and Mantapart's coilover systems are all ok to use as well.
they do not appear to be a universal kit
they are deff not for another car.they are still in the brand new unopend box and it says for 95-2000 cavalier or sunfire.he said he paid like 350 for them
ya i will get it asap but it'll be a few days cause they are like 45 min away i have them stored at my parents house til spring.

Keep in mind that just because they say they're for a j-body, doesn't mean they were engineered for one.
Just check eBay to see how much crap there is claiming to be for the j-body.
Looks identical to the crap my friend had gotten off ebay....id be guessin he ripped you off..phil
well i still call it a good deal it got em dirt cheap and i'v had offers to buy them for 3 times what i paid.i guess i will put them on my car and try them out and go from there
I wouldn't put them on my car, and certainly don't recommend you put them on yours.
What sort of instructions did they come with?
there was no instructions guy said he musta lost em.i am gonna try them out and if they are @!#$ i'll sell em and upgrade.no harm done
thanks for your opinions though i have to admoit no i'm discouraged.but how is it worse than cutting spring like i know u shouldn't cut em but hey why can chip foos do it lol
why do you even ask if your gonna ignore everyone who knows what they are talking about?
Hey I got these cheap should I use them?
No they are garbage and they aren't designed for your car.
Ok Cool I'm gonna put them on
dumbass
Seriously. And he even said "no harm done". heh.
If you gimp up your car because of these, and it costs you a couple grand to repair it, I hope you'll at least have the decency to post up here about how we were all right and you were a dumbass not to listen to us.
What shocks are you putting them on?
he'll use stock struts... but thats just till he can save up for some racing struts liek dropzones or GR2's
ya telling me u hope i wreck my car is real mature.
i'm gonna take the advice and not use em.i asked cause i don't know about coilovers.what are good kits to use.
no i would not use stock struts.i just said i would try them out and go from there thats no reason to bad mouth therse .just curious tho why are these particular ones so bad has anyone here had tenzo coilovers before and don't just call me a dumbass.just cause i wanna aska valid question
well guys i'm gonna take your advice.i know u have all learned through trial and error so i will take your word for it.i don't wanna put these on my car if they are unsafe.i don't wanna risk the life of myself my preg girlfriend and my 11 month old boy.not worth it to save some money.so sorry if i cam off like a dumbass
thanks for all the help guys
and the

thats a very smart move.
there are alot of suspension parts out there that are designed to be universal... meaning they can physically fit just about everything but not designed to work on anything. The cheap coilovers typically don't come with dirrections because they leave it up to you to rig there @!#$ product to your car, the springs rates are WAY to high, to the point where even proper struts can't save the ride. It will be extremely bouncy, you will head your head on the roof going down the highway. The car will ride and handle like @!#$.
I used this alanolgy on another forum just this mourning....
You could probobally fit an acorn in your ass.... would you want to? Not so much. Just cause it fits doesn't mean its right.
there was a thread a whiel back just liek this, guy bought @!#$ suspension told him not to use it, he ignored everyone and ended up installing the stuff. A week or so later he posted back saying everyone was right not to use them, he had a VERY close call, he almost wrecked the car and it was dirrectly related to the suspension parts he put on.

I really think that thread should be stickied, and in <flashing> BOLD as well.
