im stuck on removing the rear brakes and was wondering if anyone could help. Im sure its something simple that im overlooking but theres a pin that connects the rear brake shoe to the parking brake lever(i believe its called) any help on how to get it off would be greatly appreciated since the cars on stands at the moment
If you are talking about the washer that is holding the shoe in, use a 10mm socket, press and turn 90* while holding the pin in the back (when you press down on the washer, you should see the head of the pin on the back of the dustplate).
Its where the arrow is pointing in the pic (and one on the same level on the front shoe)

it sounds like your describing more of the hold down pins that hold the shoes on. I have the front shoe off and the rear shoe is dangling off, but its still connected to the parking brake lever by this pin. Its towards the bottom of the rear shoe and my cars an 04 if that helps.
Oh... that pin. It should slide out. Its not held in by anything except friction. The e-brake actuator hooks (literally) onto the cable, so if you unhook it, you should see the backside of the pin. A small tap with a hammer should knock it loose.
