whats up guys, i got a 98 cavy on strut bags in the front and cylinders in the rear, my driver rear cylinder has a pretty good leak in it, like i have to keep hittin my switch to dump air in it every 30 seconds or so as im driving, and if parked you can hear the air coming out of it at the bottom port on the cylinder, i think it needs new seals in it, where the hell can i get new seals for it, i definetly dont wanna replace the cylinder, especially when i can put new seals in it, i just dont know where to find em. Also i can hear air leaking out of my dump valve in the car for that cylinder also, and i have slowdown controls on my valves, and if i tighten that one all the way closed so i cant dump it at all it the cylinder still leaks, but alot slower....help. Sorry for the long post but i have found nothing to help me anywhere, thanks.
lots of stuff you just said but check out streatbeatcustoms.com. i would call them they are really cool guys
thanks bro, i appreciate it.
Chances are you should replace the whole cylinder, I have them on the rear also, We figure out the cylinder tubes are becoming out of round, if you wanna fix this get easystreet rear bags, thats what imdoing. if not you need new cylinders.
Thanks guys, i found a seal kit for 50, im gonna try that first prolly, but i may be getting rid of the car, so we'll see.
well first before you even do that, why not pull the fitting out and wrap it with teflon tape first and put it back in? teflon tape is like 2 bucks a roll
how would that keep the air from coming out of the bottom port on the cylinder though, like you can hear it on the outside of the car, and feel the air coming out there, im all for an easy fix, but not sure how that would do it.
well there has to be a fitting in the port correct? wrap the fitting with the teflon tape
no it doesnt have a fitting in it, the cylinders have 2 ports on each one, one at the top and one on the bottom, the air goes into the top ports and the bottom one stays open in case you put another valve there for suction on 3wheel. The passenger side doesnt pass any air through that port, but the driver side leaks air outta there bad, like im hittin my switch every 30 seconds or so while driving.
gotcha, im not very familiar with cylinders all that well. sounds like you need a rebuild kit
I had cylinders on my old sedan I went to a "Industrial Hydraulic" shop that deal with rams, pumps, cylinders all the time and took the one off of my car and matched it and was able to fix it.... However depending on the shape of your shaft inside it is probably "scarred" like mine was and there is no fix for it. I see spare cylinders online for low prices often.

thanks man, i wonder if i can just plug that port since it doesnt get used for anything anyway, maybe that would stop my leak or at least make it a real slow one. I really hate the cylinders but cannot afford to do the work right now for bags or buy strut bags.
well obviously it has to be threaded, i know if you go to airbagsource.com they sell plugs. my easystreet tank had an extra port on it that i plugged. if it doesnt work whats the worse that can happen? your out 10 bucks?
You should be able to plug it, it should just keep air in that cylinder just make sure you do not accidently hit a switch to put air in/out of that cylinder or the plug may give. Plenty of teflon and a brass plug should do the trick. Keep in mind this is a temporary fix that may work, however air could find another way out....
