Why, nobody bothers reading stickies and they just ask anyway.

there's a
reason the kits are expensive. either you save some money (not much, from what i understand) and do all the work yourself, or you pay a little more and do a whole lot less work.

some people over do it on the projects and time spending in their cavs. unless you got a A LOT of extra time and you enjoy it as a hobby its not worth it

Eh, I still hold true in saying that those who want to truly save some money(ie: neon disk kit, since I'm sure that's what your implying) can if they stay true to the idea. The people who say they spent like $250 less than a bear kit or something are those who wanted all the performance of the bear kit without the price tag, trying to find a cheap way out if you will. However the neon rear conv. is for those who want rear disc's and are not necessarily looking for or even need all the performance of a rear BBK. If you go towards the neon rear kit with that in mind a very cheap rear disc conversion can be had. Again, but if you go out and buy the most expensive rotors, pads, powder coated calipers, ect ect....it's gonna cost you, no way around it. Also, a BBK in the rear only looks dumb since they look like monsters compared to the front where the neon rear compliments the fronts or even a NFW in the front very well and give's the car a nice finished look. So if you go the BBK route in the rear be prepared to get a BBK or like a NFY for the front. When it all boils down, a neon rear kit is a good solid option for some who aren't looking to mod to the best possible performance but rather just 'good' performance levels instead.

Rear BBK looks just fine when you have a front BBK too

well thats exactly why i want to change them out. i just dont like the look of drum brakes. i have no intentions of having my little 2200 NA cavi going fast enough to need rear disk, its just more of a look mod, which is why im not payin the ridiculous price that the rear disk conversion kits ask. i just cant justify it. i mean i wish i could, but theres no way.

Is it really necessary to have that big of a rear disc and front disc on a car if they're way oversized?
Really, I think that with the NWF and Neon rear, you could hit the track and have a good set of brakes that should hold up to a day of laps with no issues if you're using quality components, the right brake fluid, pads, rotors, etc.
Just my opinion on the matter as I've gone the expensive way with the Neon kit in that I'm using SRT-4 components for the rear, EBC rotors, and EBC red pads as a rear disc option.
All told, it cost about 700 bucks including the initial purchase from Mr. Dearmans kit.
Too much you say? Not really and again, it's my opinion on what I perceive as a performance rear disc conversion.
This rear conversion is a temporary solution until I get all the components for the IRS swap and go with the factory rear discs of that swap. The NWF should still suffice once it's upgraded to the Corvette rotors and calipers.
One of the other reasons for me going this route is that when it comes to replacement parts, they'll be available from most car parts shops as opposed to having to special order WilWood or Baer parts that may not be available in a few years.
The factory components albeit a mutt setup for the Cavy will pretty much always have parts available for years to come.
What do you think? Am I in the wrong train of thought because I was originally going to go with the WilWood setup until I started to rationalize in what I just mentioned above.

Thank you Dave and JBO!

^I couldn't agree more. Interesting your going with N-body IRS + C4 NFY's in the front...that's exactly what I'm going to do. I've actually got my IRS in view as we speak...just waiting for TEIN to release the SS coilovers for the N-body and I will throw it in there.

That's good to know about the Tein SS setup for the N-body. I was hesitant in doing the rear IRS because of the available aftermarket parts or the lack thereof. So this is good news and I've still got to check on swaybars too for the IRS as well. I've not gotten into that research yet as I'm still in this phase of the car and concentrating on this for now.
Thanks Joshua for some reaffirming news about the swap and sorry for the offtopic.

I would go Koni if I didn't already get spoiled with EDFC, I don't know why but I gotta have it now.....lol

Well I hope that the Teins will be available.
I've got some specific reasons for their use that springs and struts won't do for my purpose with the car.
Maybe I should do some research on the N-body aftermarket to see and make sure that I'll have that capability to do what I plan with the Cavy.
Thanks Quik for the info.
