Slowzee's Saturn disc swap(The Original Setup with Pictures)

Now this applies ONLY to 95-02 cars.... as 03-05 are different and might require swapping to 95-02 cables.

Picures should help solve some of the problems here.

This is how it should look all hooked up...Please note that the spring is still on the factory parking brake cable, it needs to stay there, as it helps push the parking brake lever on the caliper further out, thus giving more pull on the lever once the parking brake is applied.

To aid in the ease of installing the parking brake cable with the springs still on the cable end, simply grab ahold of the splitter and pull slack in it, then hold the slack and force the slack to go towards the caliper and that should shove the cable out 3-4 inches and allow you to hook it up with ease.

Pic of the splitter

If anyone is needing additional photos or information, dont hesitate to ask and I will try to help as best I can.

And just for good measure:

slowzee, remember what size bolts you need to mount the caliper? My calibrated eye says 9mm.

Hub to axle is 10 x 1.5mm @ 50mm length

Want hub spacers rear disk brackets or trailing arm bushings? Shoot me a PM.

I must have missed this GP. Does this swap fix the ebrake issue that those of us running the neon swap have? I only have the driver's side ebrake shoe engaging... Makes for sketchy parking in the driveway (steep incline).

They should pull equally, the jbody cables hook into the calipers the same way, neither has more/less slack. once one is tight the other should/will tighten more as long as there is cable to be pulled, once the brake is engaged it holds, I know someone here with the swap said they locked up their tires at 30 mph on saturn discs.

It kind of takes a couple hard stops to get them to both grab hard and evenly. If you have to twist the piston back in, like to change pads, the e-brake wont do anything until after you drive it a bit. Its kind of scary the first time because you think you broke something (and if you used a c-clamp to push the piston back in, you did).

Can anyone confirm to me if you can use a J-Body's spare tire with these brakes?

I have used a spare tire with mine... BUT i dont have a jbody spare, my car didnt have one when i got it. I stole mine from my 88 beretta... and it fit just fine... no clearance issues.

Thank you Jordan, but I was looking for the Jbody's spare. Unless someone can confirm that the Beretta uses the same spare. I know they both use the same bolt pattern.

But anyone with a J-body spare tire would like to chime in on this?

Yes.

Had a flat on the rear and was able to pop the donut spare right on. Now that I think about it I did have 1/2" spacers on so that might have changed the fitment but I don't know.
