Best option for suspension

So, I have an 05 Pontiac Sunfire with just shy of 101k on the odometer and I'm thinking that it might be time to change the suspension on it. I wanted to look at a good upgraded option for suspension, but I'm still new to vehicles. I know how to do some preventative maintenance, put gas in the tank, and make a great sound system. But what do you guys think is a good option for suspension? I'm not rich, but I'll spend a little money if I have to.

I guess it depends on what your looking to do.

I mean the biggest thing I'm trying to do is make sure my shocks don't give way while I'm driving to work one day. Personally I don't think these shocks were ever changed since they left the assembly line at the manufacturer. I wouldn't mind lowering it a bit. I've been looking into that. Thanks for the info Philly D. I'll check it out.
