Ok I got an 02 cavalier, motor hard rod knock , Im pulling the motor. im a good mechanic, doing it at home with no lift , jack and stands only. do have air tools. how long (estimate) will it take removing this motor, will have another set of hands helping. any thing or surprises i need to know? primoconcepts@yahoo.com
thanks
Should be able to pull it in an afternoon.
The 2.2 isn't so bad.
Couple tips, get the harness out of the way first and have plenty of soap.
I think you would be better pulling it with it. It should be a bit easier that way.

Since you're pulling it through the bottom, yes. You CAN remove the engine through the top without taking out the tranny. But it makes life a lot easier to take the tranny out, and bolt it to the new engine, outside of the car.
No way tranny stayed in the car .....two hours disconnecting everything ......pulled old motor, had new one in and running four hours after swapping parts from old to new. all the bell housing bolts were easy to access. I appreciate all help and advice. . . . (even the soap).... just gotta tie up a few loose ends, and drive for a bit . . . . thanks again
