Built Eco Crate Engine

I was wondering, does anyone sell built eco crate engines ready for boost? I may have changed my plans in terms of my car, and I'm now debating going and buying an 03-5 LS Sport to upgrade as a nice quick, summer only car, and use the 'Fire for winter duty. I saw a site with 3-4 different options of purchasing Built engines, either for all motor or boost.

Speak to a guy called Josh F on here. I believe he was considering building 2.4 engines for people. Speak to him he may be able to sort something out for you.

Don't hold me to this because i'm not 100% but i think he was considering it. I hope this helps

Talked to Josh F, he said he planned on doing it a while ago but the plan fell through. Anyone?

Mantaparts Version Four of the 2.2 ecotec is the engine I was talking about. Is this a good engine or not worth the money? I'm planning on a Hahn Stage II kit and HPT to tune it. Looking for around 300whp.

buy the parts from allecotec.com and take the block and head in along with new parts to a shop. $500-1000 most likely for a reliable rebuild with your own parts. that is if you can not do the work yourself, if you did. it would only take about $170 for gaskets and fluids. and around 8-10 hours off work with proper tools (most auto part stores rent specific tools needed if you dont own them).

Is there a write-up or how to around here somewhere, for disassembling and assembling the eco? I have never touched an engine internally before, but it would be mean so much more to me if I built it myself.

get a chiltons or haynes manual. ive torn apart and put back to gather 2 motors using just one of those manuals, also the eco over view in the performance forum has lots of great info

i was under the impression that the eco wasnt really covered in the chilton's/haynes books.

I just finished assembling an eco, my first engine I've ever had apart., and now its fully forged. Most difficult part was pulling it out, dropping it back in and setting the pistons with a cheap ring compressor.

I'm sure I could put it together, but it's the small stuff that I'll forget, like what to lubricate here and stuff like this. Rascal you should put together a how-to on assembly and disassembly of an ecotec...

There are many people here who are far more qualified than me for that, people like PJ.

All I can say is keep lots of small bags for all the little pieces and get the list of torque specs that maven posted over at ecotecforums. Just take your time and if you have questions don't be afraid to ask.
