Try the things listed below.

1.) Map sensor
2.) Map sensor hoses
3.) Clean out Throttle Body
4.) IAC module

Mine had this same problem and its most likely the throttle position sensor has gone bad

o2 sensor? mine could only run without it plugged in, or with one that was working... when a bad one was plugged in it slowly went from 900-1000 until it was hitting 500 to 2500 up and down until it choked it self out and died. (primary o2).

try unplugging the high pressure switch for the A/C, (right up front by the alternator)sounds stupid but I have seen the wire break inside, when you put it in gear it pulls on the wire, looses connection and raises the Idle. Sometimes enough that you have to stand on the break to keep the car in place. Just a suggestion.
Make sure you check the other stuff listed, which would be the first palce to start. the broken wire on the A/c switch was a freak incident, only seen it once.

i would start with cleaning out the IAC, then maybe try unplugging the AC switch as stated above...
