Everytime it rains out i end up haveing to clean out my entire trunk spare tire and all and soaking up about a gallon of water. Anyone know how i can fix this problem? i had to throw away all my trunk lining because of this and i plan on selling my car and i dont want to sell it with a leaky trunk. I already used silicone around the square black rubber patch in the spare wheel well and around the vent on the right side of trunk.
make sure you trunk is sitting right, not crooked or on an angle. that can help a lot.
2000 Cavalier Sedan.
be careful about too much water getting on the spare tire itself, could cause the spare tire rim to rust out.

I checked that and it looks to be fitting right.

Is the trunk seal for a 03 sunfire the same as a older sunfire?
Should be since its the same trunk lid design
crawl in there with a flashlight and have a buddy hose it down and watch for leaks.. If you can see daylight its going to leak. the most common are the tail light mounting screws and the bumper cover screws on the quarter. Some times a quarter panel seam will be bugered up from a poor repairs. And if you have a sunroof make sure the drains arent plugged up, they exit the trunk right behind the wheel wells.

well i think i found the leak. its a leak behind the taillight gasket. I bout some silicone and put it all around the gasket so hopefully this does the trick. Ill let you know if it does
