I recently was talking to some friends about wanting to turbo my 2005 sunfire when one of them said I should just S/C instead. Which one would be better for the ECOTEC engine itself and roughly what does a good kit cost for each? Just going through my options for now.
hey bro i'm gonna save you before one of these hardcore vets tries to bite your head off for askin dumb questions.

Personally... I'd go S/C.. reliable bolt-on kit that you can easily install yourself and requires basically minimal maintenance.

+1. for a beginner, go with the s/c kit from either pace performance or crateenginedepot. both are the same kit, from gm. just buy it from whomever has it cheapest.

As far as ease goes, the supercharger wins hands down.
Once you start getting into the higher levels of horsepower, however, it starts getting harder to make it with a supercharger as opposed to a turbo.
I'm pretty much as amateur as you can get when it comes to cars, and as such the supercharger route is tempting, but I have a power goal that would be extremely hard to reach with a supercharger setup.
It's hard.
Decide what you want besides just power, and pick whichever route suits you best.

Hahn Racecraft makes a turbo kit for your car. Its a bit harder to install than the S/C, but in the end will produce more power.
Im personally going with the S/C. I do have higher horsepower goals than the GMPP supercharger can provide, but i a few ideas that i'll be working on next summer.
s/c def worth it

S/C for sure. It bolts right in and with HPT you can have some fun and learn a bunch of stuff too and keep it reliable. Also you can just throw a turbo in there in a couple years along with the S/C once you get the hang of things or just sell the charger for a jump start on a turbo setup. Either way Have Fun!

i agree with lenko hahaha SUPERCHARGERS are nice the thing about turbos tho if you get the RFL blow off valve it will sound like your car is sneezeing which is cool you don't get that kinda sound out of a supercharger
