1998 Sunfire cluster swap
Sunday, January 04, 2015 5:38 PM
I haven't been able to find a straight answer on this: I currently have the cluster with an analog ODO, and want to swap in a cluster with the digital ODO. Will this work/what will I need to make this work, because my BCM is also going out, so swapping that is kind of on the docket anyway.

If you have a 98, you do not have a BCM.

So the swap will work even if it's a cluster with the digital ODO with no anti-theft issues?

I'll throw in my two cents here...

I've dissected multiple 95-99 Sunfire and Cavalier gauge clusters, and from what I see, there is no difference between the operation of a 98-99 digital odometer and analog odometer.

However, the cluster itself has a change, in that the fuel sending unit is different, so while your digital odometer *should* work (I haven't actually tried this in a vehicle), the fuel meter will not work properly at all.
