01 ld9 swap into an 04 cav
Monday, January 26, 2015 7:21 PM
So I've had my 01 z24 forever and the northern weather finally had its toll on her. The rust is terrible and I have come across a perfect shape zero rust 04 cavalier with a blown motor. I want to keep my ld9 seeing how it only has 40k on it. Is it worth the time to swap it into the 04? They only want 500 bucks and free tow to my door. Will I need to weld motor mounts? I know I need to swap the harnesses and probably the clusters. Any info? Thanks guys

The easiest is swap everything...and I mean everything over from the older car....this is not legal in some states though. You can run the LD9 engine with the Eco wiring, but some wires need to be moved around, and the tune needs to be adjusted.

A few people have ran L61 ecotecs on LD9 wiring in the past.

Only a hand full of people have done what you are asking.

If both cars are same transmission this should be a fairly easy swap.

Swap motor, tranny, engine harness, ECU, radiator, hoses. Swapping BCM, and ignition switch will make dealing with theftlock a none issue.
