So I have a $2000 DVD Head unit with 5.1 DTS output, I'm running 6.5" Infinity components (with there own Crossover) with 150 RMS each, 3.5" Center Channels on a 50 watt Amp, 6x9" Infinity Refrence (with dedicated crossover) with 150 RMS each, and a Pair of RF 12" Punch Power DVC's at about 650 RMS each. I am wondering if I should be running my RCA's to a Seperate crossover and then out to the Amps or Do you think that the Headunit would be better off on it's own (Straight to the Amps)
Will the crossovers that came with my speakers be set optimally for my Speakers? Or can they use some extra help?
I'm currently only running a 25$ Crossover, but I have a better one in a box at home. Just wondering if I should use it or send it back?
Thanks.

most newer amps have built in crossovers already. they are usually pretty good for what you need to do. (actually probably better then that 25 dollar thing you have)
Only reason i would suggest buying an expensive piece of crossover hardware would be if your competing or something..for daily use the amps built in crossover would suffice.

I like to think it sounds pretty good, but I have no real comparision....Nor do I have anyone that has said anything about it to me, or anyone that really knows about that stuff. I think I'll go with the better one to run some of the other parts....since the DVD head unit is kindof interesting with standard CD's....
Anyone want to tell me the best way to Tune my system? I think it sounds good to me, but don't know if I could be getting more out of it, or even if something doesn't sound right. To me it sounds good, but what can I do to better set it all up?
Thanks.
first thing you do is find a good home audio system. most cities have several shops with setups that u can listen to. take a cd or two and go have yourself a listen, then take your cd and have a listen in your car. note the diffrences
i would keep running the crossovers with your componet set, your going to be hard pressed to do any better with a seperate system for those. do you have yoru center channel crossed over at all? as for the 6x9's i'd run them down in the 100 hz range since this is for sourround sound run you componet set as low as u can. try to get it down in the 60hz range if possible. run the subs at whatever frequency you get your componets down to. play with the gains, setting up your componet set first, then adjust the center channel so u have a good solid center image, but not to much to where it become overbearing. keep the rears low so they dont pull the sound to the back. and then run as much bass as u want. there is no golden rule so just play around with it and get it running how u like.

I've done the Home theater setups, (tweeter and such), and Like to think my home system is "decent" But as far as that goes, I'll have to play around some with the settings and see what I can get. I know my Car has more Bass than the Home system, but also know that isn't necessarily a good thing...It should be comparable to the Highs and Mids, atleast I think so. Good reason to go back to tweeter with a CD I like.....Got any good ROCK CDs for clean sound and good imaging, or would you suggest using a DVD? Anything in particular? I used to set up the Home theater with jurassic park, Now I am using Gladiator on DTS-Es(?) what ever the 6.1 is...
Thanks for the info.

almost no one runs bass in the car the same as home. if they did you wouldnt' hear it going down the road because the road noise would cancel allot of it out. as for a good cd. ive just got allot of audio cds for competiton that im familiar with and use allot, i have the focal disc, usaci disk as well as iasca. bare naked ladies gordon cd is a well recorded cd. and dire straights money for nothing is another quality cd that are in most soundoff guys testing cd's. if your looking for 5.1 im not to familiar with any quality cd's from them since i havnt ran any 5.1's myself.
