Wiring harness without T-Connecter thing?
Wednesday, May 11, 2005 3:00 PM
Alright I am going to attempt my first car stereo install by myself on my 2000 Cavy. Problem is every stereo store I go to wants to sell me a $90 wiring harness with the T-connector on it when im cheap and I just want the $10 one cuz I could give a rats ass about door chimes and I have no On-Star. So do I just ask for a wiring harness for a 99 Cavy since it wouldnt need the T-Connecter or would that harness not plug into mine?

I have a Soundgate GMCHIME. Forgot how much it was -- more expensive than a T harness but not as messy. Probably $50-70 It performs 2 functions -- it makes the chime sound when you leave your lights on etc, and it controls the accessory power for the stereo. Just like the stock stereo, it will stay on until you open the door or wait 10 minutes.
