Hey,
I got a Viper 791XV for my 2004 automatic sunfire.
I have been working on labeling the wires so I know where they will go and I have a few questions.
1. Do I have to use a relay for the trunk popper and domelight???
2. Where does the (-) Remote Start Activation Input get connected to???
This is from the manual:
This input comes from the factory set to 2 activation pulses. This means that it is necessary to have 2 consecutive ground pulses on the white/blue wire for the remote start to activate or to deactivate. The same holds true for the remote control activation when set to a two pulse setting it is necessary to press the button twice for the remote start to activate or deactivate.
3. I use the (-) 200 mA Channel 2 Validity Output to control the trunk popper correct???
This is from the manual:
When the system receives the code controlling Channel 2, for longer than 1.5 seconds, the red/white wire will supply an output as long as the transmission continues. This is often used to operate a trunk/hatch release or other relay-driven function.
4. Where does the neutral safety switch get connected to???
5. What wire do I use to "notify" the alarm that the trunk has been opened???
6. What car wires do I connect the Accessory output to??? It lists Orange and Brown as both being accessory wires so do I connect them both or what???
Thanx for the help.

1. For the trunk pop you probably need a relay. If the alarm puts out opposite polarity of what you need for the domelight you'll need a relay there too. (ie. alarm puts out postive voltage and you need negative.)
2. This wire doesn't get connected to anything. You could connect it to the toggle switch that should have come with the alarm, but I've never found a need to remote start the car from inside the car, and if you want to shut the remote start down just push the brake.
3. Yep
4. Ground, I just connect it to the ground wire up by the alarm.
5. There's nothing to let the alarm know the trunk is open unless you put a pinswitch in the trunk, or hook into the light in the trunk.
6. You don't have to connect those to anything, they're extra output channels so you can control things with the alarm remote.

For the trunk you'll definitely need a relay. Here's how to convert your negative trigger to a positive trigger:
For the domelight - you could use the door pins - they're negative outputs.
Like Besse said, you could use the trunk light as a trigger instead of getting a separate pin.
If your alarm needs an accessory wire for your car, use the orange.

Hey, i've been tryin to catch u online - whens a good time???
The alarm puts out the right polarity of the trunk pop and the domelight. So I now know I need a relay for the trunk but what about the domelight -- it says you have to use a relay so i'm assuming i need to.
The remote has the trunk symbol on it so i'm trying to figure out what alarm wire to hook up so that it will show that trunk thing when the trunk is open but then again maybe thats not what its for.
So the accesory wire, could I use it for whatever I want??? What does the accosory wire do anyway???
The manual just says:
Connect this wire to the accesory wire in the vehicle which powers the climate control system.
IDK how that would help anything assuming I can't get heat or AC without starting the car and if I start the car than those will come on if I already have them set to.

For domelight like I said, use the door pin triggers. They're a negative output. I told you which accessory wire to use - when the orange is hot, HVAC works.
There should be a wire for the trunk trigger - that's the wire that you want for the light in the trunk.
Like Lanman said, the orange gets connected to the accessory wire in the ignition harness. Just because the car is running doesn't mean all the circuit are powered up, that wire needs to be connected so the remote start sends power to turn on your climate control.
I believe the way the trunk icon works is after you hold down the button for 3 seconds and it pops the trunk the remote probably shows the trunk as being open, I don't believe it has an input on the alarm specifically for a trunk pin.
I'm usually at work till 7 eastern time and then I usually get online for most of the night. I'm off tomorrow and Tuesday so I'll probably be on a lot both those days.

Ya I understood about the orange but I assumed if the car was running then the climate control and such are on.
I also found out that my alarm doesn't have a dedicated trunk trigger wire so i just have to run it into another input.

Ya, after looking at the manual for a couple hours, I found thats how it works, which poos. I think i'll connect it to the "Mulitplexed input, Zone 4" that way it'll at least say zone 4 and i'll know its the trunk.
K-i'll try to see if i can get a hold of you tomorrow.
Thanx for the help.

why dont you just get a shop to install it. You still need a bitwritter to program it. Also, i have this alarm, and they go defective 7/10 times.

Not sure where you got your info, but you do NOT need a bitwriter, you can program everything with the valet button. I've seen very few defective DEI alarm/remote start products.

i install these units EVERYDAY! yes they do go defective. Especially 791XV. Bad remotes, no range, but these units are awsome when they work. But if hes asking questions like he is, hes not going to be able to program the unit by going through the menu's. Serioulsy, he should have someone install it. Thier is a lifetime warrenty on it if a proffesional installs it. Its gunna run him like 150$ or something but its worth it. No hassles, no worries, and you always have someone else to fal back on.
and you dont need a relay for trunk. The trunk switch is under the dash, and you can hit that wire. It is a negative.
150 to install remote start AND the regular car alarm iss a great price butnot likely. im looking at close to 500$ where i live. your really DO have distraut information

Because i'm all about installing my own stuff and cause I don't want to pay a crapload of money for someone to do something that I can do. I'm most likely not gonna need a bitwriter and if I do then i'll go have my local audio shop program it or i'll buy one which is still cheaper then having it installed.

I want to believe that but i'm kinda scared too.
I'll see if i can catch u on MSN.

I could prolly get it INSTALLED for that much but with the alarm would be closer to 500$.
I don't trust people to work on my car, especially people from best buy or the such. I might trust my local audio shop but then again i prolly wouldn't. Thats why I'm doing it myself. I just follow the directions and hope it works like it says it should and then get satisfaction in the end knowing that I put it in.
-Seth
im the same with you. i install everything myself and i do all the work myself. id just do it myslef no matter what everyone says. i did my remote start myself.
I'd put a relay in for the trunk, since your alarm only puts out a 500ma signal.
