I recently changed back to a stock cd player in my car. I got tired of my nice Apline decks getting stolen. But this time around I would like to get one sub and of course an amp. But when it comes to knowledge about what kind of amp should go with the sub, I'm clueless. So I have some questions.

I got a Alpine Type S (10") from a buddy for free...so I couldn't pass that up.

Any good? If not, what would be the best amp to run for this one sub?

@!#$, I totally forgot to ask my main question. I forgot what the connection thing is called that hooks up to your OEM radio and the RCA's?

For an Alpine Type-S your best amps will be MRP-M450, MRP-M650, MRV-F545, and finally the MRD-M605 (going from least to most RMS)


Also to have RCA's for your amplifier you need what's called a Line Out Converter (LOC)

lol...ok. When it comes to audio I'll admit. I'm dumb as rocks. It confuses the hell out of me. I searched on LOC's with google and found a bunch. On one end there are wires...where do they connect to?

The speaker outputs from your radio.

you can either use t-taps and tie them end at the radio harness or you can simply connect it to either one of the rear speakers in the back. if you connect it from the back you wont have to run so much speaker wire, however, with our cars it would be cleaner if you just ran it with all of your other wires through the car. ( power, rca, remote)

3dB signal loss with t-taps...

Well my .02 would be to use An MTX Thunder TC4002, it will match your sub far as i know, the amps rated at 400wats rms, some sites ive seen say that it maxes @ 1200 watts. The amp also has smart engage so if your using your stock unit you will not need a REM wire, i beleive that the rca's will turn it on.. some reviews i have seen have all been postiive.
