only paid 250 for my Alpine 9831, 3 4volt preouts, all the eq\'ing options i need, time alignment, mp3 and wma play back, bascialy everything a good SQ head unit needs.... why does everyone spend so much on head units? unless you are looking for navi or something...

Becuase $1500 is alot for a HU, unless its a dvd and nav unit. then its low end.

I paid $179 delivered for an Alpine 7840 back in 1998 or 1999. A small but nice savings from a connection I had at Audio Express.

I'm looking for navigation, mainly, but DVD would be nice. Also, I'd like it to store over 9 months of mp3s onboard, so that limits my options.
