Can these be removed without cutting?
 
The metal pieces, no.  The plastic pieces, yes.
 
 
Yeah I just realized there was metal behind it. Any structural integrity lost with cutting them?
 
I wouldnt think so... but im not sure.

My guess is that they are part of the uni-body, not something I would mess with.

Alright, then how do you guys typically get your boxes in? Or what width do you have them?
 
******IN MY OPINION****** I would think you'd be fine if you cut out part of the flat section if you get a the strut bars, mosre specifically the rear strut bar, it will help to stiffen the car
 
 
cut them.....i think i got a 36 inch wide box in.....might be 34......and i believe my box is 17 inches tall......i cut them and havent had any ill effects other than the deck lid rattled a little.....sound deadener fixed that.
 
 
You can cut them use a handheld bandsaw and nstall a rear strut bar

I cut mine out about three years ago without a strut bar and i have had zero problems since.  Granted ive gotten about 800 pounds of audio in there and im not out cutting an autocross track up but ive had zero issues.
 
I had to cut that out to fit my box in there as well.  No problems.
 
 
I cut em out to fit a box as well.  Bag drive afterwards...I hated my cav 

 stupid rust box...Still though, no problems at all.

the widest I go on my boxes is 34", you only have 35" between the trunk support arms for the box to slide into.
