I know a few places to get wire, but I'm wondering if anyone out there has a good cheap source for it.

What I'm talking about is factory-style wiring harness wire, 16 and 18 gauge, multiple colors, etc.

I'm in the middle of my engine swap, and I need to lengthen a lot of wires to put the ECU in the factory location. I just don't feel like spending $13-14 per 25 foot package for the Painless wiring stuff, since I'm going to need to buy a dozen different colors. If all else fails, I may just buy a bunch in one color, like black, but I really want to try to preserve the color coding through the entire harness, just in case I have to go through it and troubleshoot for any reason later.

Any websites, etc that you guys know where you can get such wire cheaper?

I got 2 spools of this just to have around one red one yellow

i just used standard black wire the proper size, then just tape each wire at each end with a number coresponding with a taped number on your original wires. this way its easy to find out wich wire is wich. its not that bad to do. and any wire you get should be covered in some protective loom anyway so the color wont matter that much as long as you put the numbers on it.

Yes, the entire harness will be recovered in factory loom, I just wanted to preserve the color coding because it makes it a hell of a lot easier if I have to troubleshoot. I've actually been using wire from a second harness, but I'm running out. I intend on having a new harness built by Painless Wiring later on down the road, but I'm still trying to make sure mine is as good as it can be. Every splice has been done twist/solder/shrink wrap. No crimp connections anywhere.

thast the way to do it. now that i got my motor running i get to go back this weekend and start soldering whats left. fun fun. i hate wiring lol

No kidding. I've done well over 100 splices on my swap. LOL. I'm going to kill myself if I made any mistakes. I contemplated using wire nuts to get it running, but it would have bugged the crap out of me to use them at all, so I just traced every wire and did the splice. Hopefully I didn't make any mistakes.

yeah i was worried about a mistake to. thast why i backed off of completly rewiring and tucking this one. just to many things on it that worried me. think im going to have to break down this fall and just buy a new harness. this harness i found out also didnt have abs on it so im missing that as well.

Why don't you just pull the ABS from your original harness and splice it where it goes?

The way I did mine was to actually strip each wire out of my factory harness that I didn't need to change, like the ABS, and the wires going from the underhood fuse/relay center to the firewall, Then I started laying the wires from the engine harness where they needed to go along side the ones I didn't remove. Long and tedious, but I think the end result is almost perfect.

because my dumb ass sold the motor and everything with it before i even realised it lol.

this is exactly how we did my installation as well with the ms....!!!

Hey, hows the MS doing for you? I remember reading your initial post about installing it, but I never heard anything after that.

install is done..... waiting on the car to go off to the exhaust guy. for the manifold downpipe and ic piping....
