Hey everyone,
just wondering about the little plastic dome light sensors in the doors. Over time my two have died on me. Now when i open the door the dome light will not come on. First the passenger one went then about a month later the other one went. Is this just bad luck and they need to be replaced or is there something more to it. I can still turn the dome light on with the dash light switch and it still comes on when i turn off the car and take the key out but will not come on when i open either door.
If they nee to be replaced is there much too it. Looks like they screw out and maybe there is a plug on the inside or am i totally wrong?
Thanks for any help. By the way its a 2002 Sunfire 2dr.
Regards
my dome light in my 98 never shuts off unless i turn the key on so i pulled the fuse for now but i guess it might be the door sensors? idk
Sounds like you both need some new door switches. They're cheap.. get 'em new at a GM dealer.
when i have time im going to look up getting all new door switches i thin then.
Could also be that they are getting stuck I remember that happening to my passenger one and I shot it with WD-40 and it's good as new.
well that would be for them not turning on though right? what exactly has been the problem for people like my situation with it always on unless I turn the key to the on position or am running the car. sucks at night trying to grab stuff from the car with no light other than opening my glove box, and wtf is up with the glove box having a light in the 98 but not my 05?? thats gay, I might have to wire up my own in there I think with an l.e.d 194 bulb and small sensor idk but just figure the newer one would have it b4 the older model.
its just the door switch....very cheap and easy to change.....all you gotta do is pull them out unplug them and plug in the new ones then you shove em back in....simple and its common. I had to change my drivers door one on my 05
