would it be more beneficial to install a speaker inside the door in stock speaker location or cut out a hole in door panel and install it in the panel?

there is no diffrence if you install them either way properly. the easiest would be inside the door. but that doesnt mean its more benificial. it just means there is less work involved in the process.

There would be a huge difference between in the door and "on the panel". No mater how you mount it on the panel. Your going to have more rattle from the speaker on the panel as opposed to behind the panel. Definitely do it behind the panel. If your having trouble mounting them due to depth. You can take the wind track bracket off put 1-2 washers in it to space it out and you get a little more room.

umm... if you build the proper baffle to "sandwich" between the panel and frame, it will be sold as a rock. Like anything else, if you do it right, it will be fine. BUT, I also don't like the whole show off look, so even if done right, I would still prefer having them mounted in the stock location behind the panel.

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

Ive never had any problems running into the window and my speakers are beefy as hell. I did have to cut the door metal to fit them too.

my mbquarts 6.5" midbass drivers were too deep to put behind the door. so there are some speakers to big for door applications without major buildouts. and sorry kass but if you build it right its not going to rattle. the key words you seemed to miss in my post is if you install them properly. installing them properly doesnt mean just screwing them onto the plastic door panel. it means building a baffle from the metal door panel to meet up with the back side of the door panel so when your screwing the speakers in (wich normally you would also build a pod on the door for asthetics) you'd be screwing into the wood baffle giving you a solid secure sealed install.
