2003-05 OEM deck w/ XM in a 2001 possible?

Basically i just need to know if I can buy/pull a factory deck from a newer cavalier. Then directly hook it up with out changing anything, just removing current stereo and putting in the new one with the wiring thats already installed.
I want the RDS, mp3 CD support and its my understanding that all of the iPod adapters only work with 2003 and new decks.
Anything I should be aware of for iPod connectivity with OEM decks? If I can keep my 2001 CD player that would be nice.

If there was a post about this I looked and didn't see it.

Yeah, you can do it... but you need to take the car to a GM dealer to reflash the BCM to work with it afterwards. Which will probably cost you $100 or so... assuming the tech can do it within an hour. At which point, you're better off going with an aftermarket deck!
