I noticed a month or two ago that my HVAC lights don't come on unless I smack the bottom of the dash.
Do you think it is just an old bulb or what do you think?

This. I recommend getting LEDs to replace the bulbs. SuperBrightLEDs has them and I love mine. The HVAC panel doesn't get super hot anymore lol. Just make sure you get the 5-way ones for better light spread.
make sure if u get leds the light output is 360`
