Wouldn't the starter kill stop the starter from working?

Are you starting the car with your key, or remote start?

If the engine starts, then dies.. it's your Passlock. Are you using a bypass module?

yea, you have to use a bypass kit. http://www.bulldogsecurity.com will tell you what you need. I had some issues with the 1997 cavalier model year. I had 3 I could not get a bypass to work on. Passlock would keep disabling the car. I did about 10 other years between 95-05 and never had an issue. Just wanted to let you know this as I do not know what year you have. Some manufactures have a list of black listed cars and 1997 is one of them for some reason.
