BLOWN FUSES!
Tuesday, February 22, 2005 8:15 PM
Ok, so i took my sub out for the weekend for a lil ski trip. Then i put it back in and i blew a fuse. NO biggie. But the thing is i tried to replace it(to in-line fuse next to the battery terminal) and it keeps blowing. I disconnected everything and put each connection back one by one and it still keeps blowing. I have 30 amp fuses would i need a bigger one like 50 maybe or am i doing something wrong ? thanks

i cant punch hard enuf,i cant kick high enuf,i cant shoot straight enuf,i cant die dead enuf!

follow your power wires down all the way to your amp, and make sure that it is not sliced or broken, and grounding out on anything. hope that helps

ok, if you've had that same size fuse for a long time, and now it blows. it's obvious that something has changed that caused your amp to pull a lot more current the normal. you should NOT go to a bigger fuse.

If anything you should replace it with a smaller fuse for temporary. Even with a fuse half the size your amp should power up and idle just fine. If the fuse blows with no volume, then you have something wrong with the amp most likely. If it blows at low volume, there's gonna be a shorted speaker, or a short in your wiring.

sounds like its blowing instantly wich would lead me to believe that you have a short in your wire somewhere, check the power wire for any cuts or any spots where it could be touching metal.

yeah check your wiring, that right there is telling you that the power wire is grounded at some point.

ok stupid me got the wiring crossed. ground in power slot and power in ground lol rookie mistake. good way to waste 2 packs of fuses. I thought it was something simple like that cuz it arched when i left the power wire in and put the ground in and didnt arch at all when i left the grpund in and put the power wire in. :p
