I'm wondering if I should trade in my two hifonics bx1500d (one new) and my hifonics nemesis +$100 for two orion 1200d and a smaller orion amp for the mids. What do y'all think? Any power difference?
do it.
hifonics are known for their poor quality. those 1500's are only capable of about 900 watts...probalby which you aren't seeing

SPL sound system setup, work in progress...
4 MA Audio X2 12" subs, 2 Orion 2500D's (two more this summer)
Orions for sure much better audio equipment
Fast isn't always good, looks and sound is sometimes better

Thanks for the opinions. I had one hifonics 1500d ont two memphis twelves and it seemed decent, but I was pretty sure the orions are better. I almost want the bigger orion amps, but I already have my box built for 1500 watts

How do you have a box built for a certain wattage?

Am I missing something?

an orion 2500d. Hmmm I can tell you a lil about them. very strong. little birdy said that they are .5 ohm stable for daily driving if you can feed them the power they want. little birdy also told me that they have been benched at 3400+ watts at said load.

did that birdy happen to mention the amount of current they were pulling when tested?

Yes, it's built for 1500watts. Orion recommends a bigger box for the lower power. 2500=2.4 cu ft , 1500=2.2 cu ft. I wonder if it would sound good even if I put the 2500Ds on 'em? I could always fill the box with something.
That .2 cubes isn't going to make a difference at all. I'd be willing to bet you couldn't even tell a difference.

sorry, I had that backwards. 2500=2.2, 1500=2.4 So I could just screw a block of wood in there. Do you think a 2500d for each sub (15" H2s) is too much?
power handling IS raised when you lower your volume...but at the sacrifice of low end response.
I really don't see 0,2 cubic ft. making a difference much in the drivers power handling...just go with it.

One, is this box ported or sealed, two which coils do you have on them, and three, I think you might be reading the site wrong, because it's either 2.4 and 1.7 or 2.2 and 1.7cubic feet.
Oh yeah, and if it's sealed, port those bishes.

yeah the 2500d's are pretty strong amps

Damn, I totally screwed up! My math was way off, I also forgot to account for the speaker displacement, but that isn't the problem. Anyway, so my net box volume is 1.53 cu ft

Hopefully this will work. It will be close to the recommended size (1.7cu ft) if I get the 2500Ds. If I could somehow port the boxes to make them work I would, but I really don't feel like making a new box. This is embarrassing.
I'm running 2 BX1800d's, and they pound. I'm not one bit unhappy with purchasing those amps.
Beat it like it owes you money
bump for what? you've already been told that hifonics is junk.

Sorry, I wanted to know if the box would work after I found my mistake. I know it's off topic, but it is the last question I have. Didn't want to flood the forum with another one of my stupid questions.
It should, no reason why it shouldn't.
