Wiring extra battery - Does this sound correct?
Monday, February 14, 2005 8:12 PM
I did a search and read a lot of posts. I will be installing a second Optima Blue Top in the driver's side left rear corner of the trunk - I will have a fuse in the engine compartment and one at the trunk battery, from the trunk battery I will add a new 1.0 farad cap then send power to my existing 0.5 farad cap, then to a fused distribution block, from there to the 4 channel amp and the sub amp.

It would just fine, but I wanted the blue top for the color to go with the rest of the cars blue accents.

You know you can paint it right? Just cover the terminals with painters tape first.

First let me say that I believe you would be much happier with the results if you upgrade the big three instead of installing capacitors.

Now that that's out of the way. I believe capacitors should be wired in parallel. I could be wrong be I think wiring them in series defeats the prupose.

Why through the caps in the trash?

I have been so focused on the extra battery that I forgot about upgrading the big 3. I already have a new ground ground from battery to chassis - I had to do that with the Blue Top Optima up front, I will do the rest later this week.

Thanks for the info

the caps won't help you....do the big 3, and the batteries, possibly an alternator in the future, but those caps are worthless.

Yeah, every single car or truck of seen with a cap, i just laugh cause they start playing there music and they do nothing at all. The way i see it, is that there a waste of money.

let's not start a cap argument in here again...there's plenty of topics on that.

but your correct for wiring your battery, be sure to ground tha one in the trunk properly. use some 1/0awg if your not already.
