Ok so the car is a 2002 Cavalier z24 5 speed with 115,000kms
What I am thinking about doing is picking up a motor from the wreckers to build for boost.....Try and find one with 50,000kms or so.........
What I would do would be...........
Eagle "ESP" H-Beam Rods
Wiseco Pistons - Standard Bore - 8:9:1 Compression - with wrist pins and rings
Dual Friction Centerforce Clutch
Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel
HP Tuners
Bates Engineering Valve Springs
Hahn RaceCraft Stage II
What do you think?? Reliable daily driver.....I figure I can get everything I need for about $6,500-$7,000 CDN. Ya alot of money but alot of fun too!!
Basically I want to SAFELY be able to run 15-20psi on a daily bases......
you would have a nice bottom end setup and drivetrain. you would need to upgrade your fuel system if you want to run 15-20psi. definitely bigger injectors, FPR, upgraded fuel pump. also i would get an MSD. i have about 5k US in my motor but i spent all my money on that so i could not upgrade my fuel setup. so til i get more money i can only run 5psi beacause thats all my injectors will handle
You have the right idea on your short block but you might as well port & polish the head and install 1mm over stainless valves and do the secret cam swap while you're at it, then as suggested above upgrade your injectors, fuel pump and get the afpr. If you search for Spyhunter here he has pretty much the setup I described and he's making 432 whp and 424 wtq @ 15# -16# of boost! Although I don't remember what turbo he's running, also use ARP head & main studs as well as the Cometic mls head gasket.
2000 Z24 5spd header & catback for now.
Ya the HRC kit comes with bigger injectors and a HI-volume fuel pump....
I guess APR headstuds might as well be added to the list for an extra hundred bucks...
Ya I forgot to add AFPR and Wideband 02 sensor....
Not sure if theres a place around here to P&P but I should look around.......
Was originally gonna buy a Cobalt SS but after spending $32,000 I would have any money to mod!
