m45 boost gauge hookup
Wednesday, July 11, 2007 8:25 AM
i've read countless posts saying you T off of the FPR to get your boost reading. i did that, and all i got was vacuum, and when i floored it, it would go up to 0. i tried T-ing off of every other nipple on the supercharger and i got the same results. i just took the supercharger off my engine before i pulled it, and saw this nipple, and i have no idea what it is for. i would think that this would be a good place to hook up a boost gauge because it is on the side of the supercharger that would have boost.

heres where it is

if thats not where a boost gauge could go, what is supposed to go there?
thanks

im not sure what line goes there but i could check later today

Sounds like your gauge is broken.. even with a vacumn leak you should still get *somekind* of boost..

That is supposed to be hooked up to under the TB side of the S/C (at the bottom of your pic).

hmm....i had everything hooked up besides this one nipple that i just found, and it ran just fine....but i guess i had a couple other hoses in the wrong spots....if anyone can explain where each nipple should be hooked up to that would be great, mabe if i hook everything up like it supposed to be, it will read boost right.....maybe.....
thanks guys!

Best I can describe...

MAP sensor is hooked under the the S/C on the right side when it's on the motor.

On the front of the TB, working down you've got...
IAC
Unused (cap)
EVAP purge
HVAC
Brake Booster
and then on the bottom the TPS.

If you don't know where they are supposed to come from, well... sorry.

The arrow that you have there is a breather hole, it shouldn't ever have boost.

You can T off of the MAP sensor. The reason you can't T off of the FPR is because on an S/C setup, the boost is made far after the FPR signal line.

No, the signal line for the FPR is on the oppisit side of the MAP, it does see boost, and this is where i get my signal for my boost gauge.

I'm tapped into the FPR hose as well. I've always been told you should try and avoid tapping from the MAP, but not exactly sure of why.

Pressure drop and if your using the 2-bar MAP you wouldn't be getting as accurate a reading.

Mine is T'd off in the same place with no problems. Now if you are sitting still reving the car, you are not going to see boost
