I planned on charging next summer and i was wondering how long it would run on stock internals without troubles? I know the rods go till 250 but if its on there for say 5-10 years.. would it weaken the rods to the breaking point, or will they be fine?
Also, jbp has a head kit for around 3500. It gives about 35 horses. Would it be worth while to buy? I was thinking i'd charge after the head kit to get to better pistons and all that but if the stock internals will be fine long term then i'd wait till after i was charge to do the internals.
Thx in advance.

you might want to try this question in the boost forum

Who says the rods give out at 250 HP? Is more like the oil system and rod bearings, not the rods them selves. Also what ^^^^ said.

should i build the engine like pistons and all that internal stuff before i supercharged the car? Or will the stock internals work just fine long term with the gm supercharger reflash?
I'd like to know what i should be saving for first, a built engine or a charger. If i dont need to worry about the engine internals long term then i'll forget all about them n just continue to save for the charger.

just get the s/c, you'll have no problems, especially on the stock pulley

If i would have the gm supercharger reflash done would i not get the same gains from a s/c as i would from the turbo seeing that they both would only be able to put out the 10 psi max? I dont understand why some say the turbo is better when to me both supercharger and turbo charger would only be able to put out the 10 psi to stay within the reflash?
I know that if i were to use hp tuners icould indeed increase the psi but then i would also have to do some internal engine work. To me a s/c is safer since gm has the reflash set to a certain psi so that the engine internals are okay stock.
Would it be okay down the road to have the supercharger w/ gm reflash and then spend some more cash on a head kit from jbp? It states that i'd get 33whp from the head kit so i'd have the 200hp from the s/c plus 33 so i'd be around 233 whp, plus i'd have the better pistons for some more mods.
Finally, would you mind listing some part numbers for the intercooling system for the supercharger. I know it is a lot better to have it intercooled but i do not know much about intercooling. What all parts do i need to intercool the s/c?
I'm thinking about doing this next summer but i noticed a good deal on all turbo parts just wondering what would be the best bet, or are they equal with the gm reflash?

the reflash reads a lot higher than 10psi. I'm not sure where you got your information on that one. Also, psi is a relative term. 10psi from the m62 is not the same as 10 psi from a t3/t4 whatever trim turbo. Please do some reading about cfm and what not. It will save you some embarassment

you can't use hpt with the ecotec reflash. Thats been covered numerous times.

thats not how it works chief. you don't just add hp claims together.

use the damn search button. people ask about the intercooler set up every week. just search for a post by phlatcav, it has pics and a list of what you need.

the gm reflash is simply a tune that compensates for boost. its entirely up to you whether you'd rather have a turbo or the supercharger.
