Im working on my turbo Sunfire, 2.2 OHV, and i was wondering what the approximate RPM increses would be and should i get a set of forged pistons to handle the added rpms, or will stock pistons get the job done.
it's not an increase of RPMS that boost causes. you will go through your powerband much faster, but as far as RPM's go, thats where your crank and rods come into place. when boosting over 6 psi, you're going to want forged pistons and rods to handle the strain of that power.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
usually to increase rpms you wanna do head work alone with a p&p on the head. also you wanna get stronger head studs. that would help with higher revving engines. but that doesn't mean the bottom end will take it cause to much high revving will cause the rods to either stretch or snap. hope that this helps
