I just tried using the wire coat hanger and pushing it through but i couldn't even get it further than maybe 3 centimeters. Any suggestions?

yupe i do, get a friend to help you out one needs to be pushing the coat hanger, and the other with a medium to small flat head screw driver one the inside. the rubber gasket is double walled. once the wire is at the double wall (thats where your getting stuck at) use the screw driver to open the hole a little bit to let it through. pulling it back out is the easy part.

the only codes I have ever gotten was the trac off light and that was occasionally, either in I or II. you have to realise that the computer in the car monitors the engine for things that are out of a certain range of acceptability. when you exceed that range you get a check engine light. you can get a check engine light by putting a larger intake on the car.

you should be fine

ok so i got it hooked up and its awosome, only thing i dont like is when you let off the gas and the car shifts its really jerky cause your decelaring and then it jumps, another thing, is when i shift out of park and into drive it makes a knock noies and soudns like the tranny is about to blow up, is that normal or is that bad for my tranny

yeah i guess its normal cuase mine does this hard thump when i put it in drive, also the same thing when i let off the gas.

our transmissions can handle alot of tourqe so i figure its ok.

Its actually better on the tranny because teh clutches dont slip is much, but its worse on your CV joints and other rotating parts from all the bangs and non- smooth transitions between gears

the light is possibly for the shift solenoid pressure being to high mine has that code in the ECU but doesnt always show a CEL for it no worries

and the hard engagement is normal cause the clutch packs are engaing imediately like said above the tranny isnt slipping into gear now is just going into gear now

Have you got the motor mount and insert? These J's have sloppy motor mounts and if you don't brace 'em up, your hard shifts will be transfered to the slop in the engine and wear out the stock motor mounts that much faster. They cause a little vibration, but if your more interested in performance, then it won't bother you. Just my 2 cents worth....

By having mounts the shifts will feel more firm then without. There is a big diff. with and without upgraded mounts.

all the 4t40's have the plug in the same location , the 0hv's being the easist to get to , the 2.4 and eco have the intake in the way , and the eco has a radiator hose in the way also

IT DOES NOT WORK WITH THE 3-SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION !!!
it never has and never will work with it, the Shift kit is not even made for the 4 speed that comes in our cars. but it works because our trans plug is the same as for another car that the kit IS designed for.

Shift plus is the one of the best mods ever. I slapped mine in today and drove around. Hearing my car chirp second is one of the best sounds i've ever heard. Even tho my Trac off and Engine light constantly stay on and my engine mounts are in drastic need of replacing i will say that for taking 5 minuets to install this is one heck of an upgrade. Good luck everybody
