well prob cause of the gear ratio theres no dead spot after 60 on up, it just pulls. kinda sucks though cause its raining, and i cant really nail it, also during the 500 mile break in period as well, but i am trying to get as much rain driving in as possible. i feel that if you can drive in the most crappiest of conditions, snow included, you should do even better in dry conditions...
but so far so good.
how much did everything run u??
sorry was so short there, but was running ome about 1.5 hours away to drop off the old tranny.
install was 300$ added on to the prices from the first post...
Can I have the Number to the shop? you said you would post it for me but never did. What is the stock ratio? you had yours changed to 3.08 right? numerically higher would mean faster accel, and vica-versa right?
Thanks
Jon
Can we have a list of the places where you got the parts for your trany mods

That's awesome man!! I always said that the 3 speed, if worked up to hold more horsies, and stall range and final drive changed would be an awesome trans!!
I had one in my 97' Fire, so, I know the 3 speed well.
Keep us updated on how she holds up, and how differently it drives!
Event, the info I have lists the final drive as 3.18 on the 125C. I assume they changed that in the newer 3T40? The info I have lists 1-2.84, 2-1.60, 3-1.00, final-3.18. I bet you're turning some serious rpm at highway speed now. I know my 1984 Sunbird with the 125C runs at 3000 rpm at 65 mph. I hate it.
It's good to see it finally in the car though

depending on the year, the gear and chain, thats probably the biggest difference. this is from the 99 GM 2 volume shop manual, but the gear ratios are numerous as for what can come stock. they list these for the 3t40, but basically the two trannies are the same. but i believe the info for what ratio you have is printed inside. if not, i know the tranny place had a chart that you line up the drive ring on that told you the ratio if needed.
but heres the pic i scanned from the gm shop manual

it runs some high rpms. especially with the 2800 stall rate. highway isnt too bad. i cruise at 70 with about 3-3200 tacked on there. cant wait to get the engine done though, i figure that should put more use to it. reading up on CR though. kinda confuding, but makes sense. just dont wanna go TOO high.
but thanx, it def is good to see it in the car. not only does it ride better, the old one was gettin boring
Boring
That's a good one. What shop manual is that? There is no information on ratio's and such in the "official" GM manual I aquired for my '84. There is plenty of stuff on the engines, but not the transmissions.
The 125C in my '84 is boring too. That's why when I get another engine it will either have the 4 spd or 5 spd manual swapped into it also. I hate to do something not original on the car because there are so few around, but it just isn't very highway drivable with that 125C spinning away in rpm heaven. I guess instead of making it a restoration it will be what I thought it should be from the factory (diff tranny, more power, etc
)
I'll be looking forward to hearing how it drives after the break-in though. Good luck.
i e mailed u about the urathane u used.
wow thats a high rev, i was on the highway today playing around with my tie bar, i can do 89-91 at 3050 rpms with the 4 speed, man ur fuel economy can't be that good
Its not how fast your car goes....its how much nerve the driver has to push it that fast.
how many miles it got on it speedracer?
