i bought a modified 98 z24 from dan aversa. I was told that the engine was rebuilt and tranny was swapped to a getrag. I dont find it to be a getrag. it has no F-23 name on the tranny. it sucks when i was told its a new tranny, and it looks like when i checked inside the hood, so i bought it and brought it home.. now the tranny leaks pretty bad.. it has a cracked on the top. I really need to know what type of transmission i have. .. with your help...will be appericated.. please!!!!
i know getrag was made for 2000 and +.. so.. helllllllllpppppppppppp me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
how do i kno if its a getrag? ??????????????????

Yes. The early getrag was before 3 GEN J-Body days. It was in a I think Berreta's with the 2.3's (maybe other cars with the 2.3. I know that is not a 2000+ getrag, but I have never messed with a early years getrag to know.

if i get a 2000+ getrag...do i still need to get stuffs like axles, shift cables and all other parts of the assembly? what about old style getrag's mounts? will they fit with 2000+ getrag?

if you go to the 00+ you'll have to get ALL the stuff to go with it... imo the older ones stronger but the newer ones got better gear ratios.

is it possible to use gears from new getrag into old style getrag?
im not sure if i have good gear ratios.. i have tested the car this morning i could go 55km/h in first gear. actually 60 kmh if i go in red line. 95 km/h 2nd gear.
I will find out how far i can go with 3rd and fourth gears after work.

it always amazes me to see you guys just whip out knowledge on the fly
I had to actually do a search to find a picture that matched this one just so I could see for myself that it was the transmission stated.
Im still learning though.... but hey Im impressed

The round "cap" in the second picture gave it away, shifted beat me to it.
