So I was browsing Autozone the other day and I came across Pennzoil synchromesh. The pennz is only like $6 a quart, compared to 12-18 for gm. Are there any differences between the two?
should be the same. I used it in my car.

id say go with the GM product... its a 50% synthetic mix.... check the label for the pennzoil stuff and see what theirs is. in this case how often do you change your trans fluid. Also the isuzu likes nothing but gm syncromesh.
Yeah the GM product will be best but when i did not have a chance to get any i got some of the penzoil

penzoil = recycled oil, GM oil = new oil... how do i know, well up untill march of 06 i did the maintence on all the local penzoil trucks and you kind of get to know the products and people very well...

pennzoil synchromesh meets all the specs of gms stuff. its just there version so u dont have to go to a gm dealer, or over pay.
Don't steal, the government doesn't like competition
I *think* penz makes the New synchromesh oil, this is NOT intended for FWD cars, but for RWD, as its thicker.
judging by the bottls i get in of both at my dealership. FWD comes in "oil" QT bottles, and RWD comes in the 80-90 like the penzoil gets,
if it where me id buy the GM stuf, call it peace of mind

I had my 97 z24 tranny fluid changed at jiffy lude before and they use the penzoil fluid. They in fact first told me that my tranny takes special fluid and have to charge me $10 more. It worked great no issues. That is why when we did MyLifes clutch change we got the Penzoil as well. He also had no issues.

When I use to woek at Jiffy Lube we rotated out all of the GM Syncromesh and only used Pennzoil's. The reps rfrom Pennzoil said that they made the fluid for GM, but couldn't release an aftermarket version until now.

I've heard that before too. I think I am gonna stick with gm though, it's not like its something you replace frequently...
penzoil and quaker start are the same company, have been for years. thye make the oil for gm. what you buy from penzoil/quaker state is exactly the same oil as you are buying from gm.
