I have a 1990 3t40 trans that I have just done a total rebuild on. Now I do not have a solid shift in 2nd gear. It runs fine in 1st and 3 rd. In 2nd, it slips. The reason I rebuilt this is it did not have a 2nd gear and shifted from 1st to 3rd gears. I found a burnt band in it. any pointer as to the problem would be a great help. Thanks
Clutchs and bands dont just go bad normally something causes them to fail.
You should get a line pressure tester and hook it up for all the gears to see what the pressure is in 2nd gear.
If its to low, and the band only applies slighty, it will slip, and not hold the gear like it should.
