I had a buddy order me some shifter cables for my 96 Z cause one of the cables went out, he got a discount from GM

I get them last night and go to put them on today and all of the end connect just fine except for the end that goes on the tranny and is moved my the side to side motion, i think it is from a 2000 and up model. when i compared it to the old one the ends were diff. Weird thing is when i went to snap on the old one just to see it wont either so i think a piece feel off the old one. My ? is, i got to lookin closer at the connections on the tranny and the prong is bolted on. Could i see if i could find the prong from a 2000 up cause those are what the cables have to be? or am i missing something thanks guys

Umm....a '96 eh, you've got an isuzu transmission and you have the cables for a Getrag transmission (2000+)...totally different. I dont think your going to get it to work at all. Take it back and get the proper cables.
there is another theory we have come up with, a 95 vin was used so is it possible that these are 2.2 cables or does that end look like the one off of the getrag, thats kinna weird if so cause all the other ends fit besides that one

You must have the right cables because the 00+ cables dont have the O-ring connectors for the shifter side. How is it not fitting? Too big, small?
How did the old cable end fit on?

the connection in the top pic is the one not fitting, it will just not snap down on the prong here is better pic with the prong behind it
the prong just hits the back of the hole and wont snap on, i was thinking it is from a 95 vin and the dealership said that it went from 96-99 and i have a 96 so could i just change the prong it is suppose to go onto cause it is just bolted on...one more thing, the big round thing back on the cable a bit that slide down in the slot to hold the cable still, this cable wont go down in that either, no problem with any of the other 3 end at all.
