Yeah no i Didnt type that wrong,I have a 1999 Sunfire GT 2.4 5spd,I blew up second gear and need either a rebuild or a tranny,I dont really want to do either but i can get a 97 GT with an auto for dirt cheap and was thinking of changing mine to an auto because i plan on selling it next month and it will make it easier to sell, how much work am i looking at?????
Significant work, you have to weld in new mounts, grind out your old ones, new axles, center console assembly, pull the pedals out, pull shift linkage out, swap ECU's, swap the wiring harness, etc. It'd probably be cheaper to find a new/used 5 speed. You can get 5 speed transmissions new for about $850, used from about $200.

Buy stuff from CarCustoms Ebay! Won't be disappointed!
wow ive never found a 24 tranny that cheap here
Yeah, I wouldn't even think about an auto swap. WAYYYYY too much work. Isuzu 5 speed tranny's are easy to come by and are cheap.
