Time for a new tranny??
Tuesday, December 12, 2006 1:07 PM
Ive got a 97 Z24 and my second gear has always been a little sketchy, well yesterday, it went out. I cant even get it into gear now, its just basically shot, it just grinds like crazy, and everyother gear is starting to feel a vibration type feel to it, im guessing i need a new tranny instead of fixing the syncros which im guessing is the problem.

I called a local shop to have him find me a tranny, but he hasnt called back, does ne one know where i could get one, other than the junk yard?

thanks

NAPA can get you one most likely. i know the one i work at can. but we get Remanufactured ones from a junkyard that rebuilds them. they come with either a 3 or 6 yr. warrenty.

Get ahold of "gm_guy _" he has a post in the classifides. I bought one from him that had 30,000 miles on it for $675 plus shipping.

Funny thing is, fed ex dropped it on the way, it cracked the cover piece on the end, sent it back to fed ex, they refunded me $650 and i got to keep the tranny, which is now in my car and running fine ( after replacing the cover)....yay 4 me
