need tranny experts badly.

okay, most of you know i just swapped in an 05 eco into my 01 well the car started up fine, but this weekend when i went to check the gears, nothing. i talked to aaron(phlatcav) a bit about it and he said when the car is in neutral and u turn the driverside wheel forward the passenger should move backwards. on mine on the driver side moves. he also said when the car was in gear i shouldnt be able to turn the drivers wheel. well i can spin mine now would this happen if the car didnt have enough tranny fluid. book states if the wheels arnt turning blah blah blah it could be low tranny fluid. i was going to add some tranny fluid to it when i got home. i realised last night when i had checked it the other day (undoing the bolt under the car and watching fluid leak out) that the car was off. and it states in the book for the car to be on and warmed up. so maybe im super low on fluid. but i still wonder even if i had no fluid at all would the wheel still spin if i put it in drive? starting to get worried i have a bum tranny. its either that or something with the wiring harness. my wiring harness didnt have abs and im not sure if there is something diffrent with the wiring that is causing a goof. we dont think they are related but were just guessing. i need help quickly because if i have to yank this thing again ive got allot of work ahead of me.

now this is just generic, but hopefully my 2 cents helps..

usually spinning one wheel to see if the other turns is to check the differential, seeing as the driveshafts are both physically connected by the diff. If the diff is good, both wheels should spin (one forward, and one in the opposite direction since you have a stock diff). As long as it does that (both wheels must be in the air) your diff is good.

are you sure your ecu is programmed for an automatic? not sure if that would cause absolutely nothing to happen when its in drive though..

unfortunately I can't offer much insight since I've never owned a 4t40e jbody.. but good luck man if I think of anything else i'll add some more here

well the wiring harness came attaached with the motor so im assuming they should match up.

as for the wheels spin one and only one moves. so that means possibly a differential problem then...

got the problem fixed, think it was a combination of low tranny fluid and the passenger axle wasnt locked into place.
