ok i have a 98, 2.2 auto trans cav, recently had an engine dropped in, since then it sometimes takes a few tries to get it to stay in park, i noticed on the gauge cluster if the orange isnt exactly in the "park" position its still in neutral, not sure whats causing this or why but it sucks, any suggestions.... thanks in advance to all!!!
There is a cable from the shift lever in the cabin to a selector in the transmission it may be somehow loose or not properly attached, on the 4t40e tranny it is on top of it, not sure on yours but it may be worth a shoot.
yep the shifer linkage got in a bind and it actually broke apart before i could find the problem, so looks like im replacing yet another shifter linkage, but this time only one not 2 like the 5 speed
ok so i finally got around to replacing my shift linkage today and at first i had the same problem as before with the broken linkage.... so i got to messin with the old linkage and figured out that clost to where it connects to the tranny there is a spring there, at first i was like wtf is that for, then i realized that whole part was adjustable *DOH!* so i adjusted it and it works just fine

so the vert is back on the streets for a little while longer before winter
