4.41 final drive

Has anyone done the 4.41 final drive swap out of a VUE yet? Just wondering before I start trying to piece together my transmission. Anyone have the gm part number for the 4.41 gears? Thanks for the info.

F23 00+ getrag cars. I have a 2002 Z24. The F23 is used in the HHR and in the Saturn Vue (ecotec). The internals I would assume is all the same. The HHR has a 4.17 final drive while the Vue has a 4.41. The Vue also has a 0.81 5th gear if some one was interested in making 5th gear a very usable foward gear. I can get a Vue transmission from a local yard for 350.00, but I wanted to make sure that the internals would swap.

honestly, all the f23's have like a 3.58 1st gear. even if I am wrong I am close. 3.58x4.41=15.7878. waaayyyy to deep. IMO, even with the stock fdr 1st gear is simply to deep. my advice is to just biuld more power. as you biuld more power you will be able to go faster and the stock gears will only compliment you more.

I know one person with the 4.42 FDR in his Cav, but I haven't talked to him in about 2 years. Yes the 4.17 and 4.42 FDR's and individual gears work in the Cav's F23

well now you know it works, the question is, is it an improvment?

I agree with nutcase. that's really low gearing. what are you trying to do? My guess is you would be turning near the redline in 5th gear doing 65-70 mph.

LD9 F23 FTW!!

Very true. I know with the 4.11's in my Isuzu in 5th gear ( .74 ) @ 75 mph I am cruising around 3k. Keep the Jbody 5th gear, I think it is around .69

BTW, there are 2 different gear sets for the 4.17. I just don't remember what vehicle to find which set

1st - 3.57 3.57
2nd - 1.89 1.89
3rd - 1.19 1.34
4th - 0.85 0.98
5th - 0.69 0.81

Have you got a definitive reply on that ?

I'm looking on the 4.41 final drive too for my car in France (as it is a track car with 8k rev limit...)
