Stalls when shifted into Drive

I have a 1999 and when i go to shift into drive it stalls. Reverse and nuetral all work but only when i try to shift it into drive it stalls. when i unplug the transmission plug in in front it will shift into drive but it wont shift right when i'm going down the road..i've replaced the whole tranny, the torque converter, the computer, the nuetral safety switch...what else could it be??? any info would be great

sounds like a torque converter lockup solenoid problem? i know 2nd gens were famous for that.. not sure about 3rd gens tho

Seriously though, I'd look into the TC lockup that Jasonoshawaz24 mentioned.

have you done anything with the pcm recently ?

i had a sunfire pcm from a GM test car and in my cav it would do that , with the cav pcm back in the car trans worked fine

I'd second the motion for the TCC lockup. Newer cars should have a PWM solenoid for the torque converter which seems to at the least, prolong the problem with it sticking (as it's basically on-off-on-off-on-off) but it's designed really to make a smooth transition into OD so the driver doesn't feel the TCC engage. But, those can fail to. Actually, like mentioned above it's a very common problem with 2nd gens, or really any of the GM cars around that same age. So, it would be no suprise that the solenoid is bad.
